Every Tear
This song was written in February of this year (2020) just before things got crazy in the United States with Covid-19. Every now and then I wake up in the middle of the night and when I can’t get back to sleep, I usually ask God what’s on His heart. Without fail, every time I ask Him that I begin to think about women and girls who have been sold as sex slaves. As I begin to think about them, I wonder what they might be feeling in that moment. They are probably alone, scared, and hurting. I can’t even imagine the suffering they endure daily. I do try though, and it overwhelms me with sadness every time He brings them to my mind. I pray for them. But one day it occurred to me that they might find it difficult to sing most of the worship songs that are sung in our churches today. They are beautiful, God-glorifying songs, but how would it feel for these girls to sing about the goodness of God, the love of God, in the situation they are in? I write songs, mostly worship songs, so I wanted to write one and sing it over them and anyone else who may need a reminder that He sees your tears, He knows your pain, and He’s with you. I hope this song carries with it a truth you can grasp, even in your darkest night, and a hope you can cling to, even in the most hopeless situation.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 21:4
Hope is not lost
Even when your heart is breaking
Even when the night is taking over
Pain will not last
Even when it’s overwhelming
There will be a day that brings your healing
Lay down your burdens
Lift up your head
The Savior is risen and He’s coming again
Praise to the One who will wipe away every tear
Praise to the Son for His Kingdom is near
Praise to the Father who is making all things new
Praise Him forever, Heaven is coming soon
You will find peace
Even when it feels so distant
He has come to give you life abundant
Jesus is here
Even when you cannot see Him
He has overcome this world with love
Lay down your burdens
Lift up your hands
The Savior is risen and He’s coming again
Praise to the One who will wipe away every tear
Praise to the Son for His Kingdom is near
Praise to the Father who is making all things new
Praise Him forever, heaven is coming soon
No matter what this day may bring
Know that you are loved
Jesus is the King of kings and you’re His favorite one
No matter what this day may bring
Know that you’re enough
Jesus is the King of kings and you’re His favorite one
