My Florida babies aren’t babies anymore 😭 Doi My Florida babies aren’t babies anymore 😭 Doing my best to soak up the silliness and laughter and even the rough moments of raising these amazing kids. Jesus never rushed from one thing to the next, so that’s my goal. Not to rush it, but to simply live it and give thanks.

We were in the middle of eating lunch and the musi We were in the middle of eating lunch and the music suddenly turned on so both of my children left their half-eaten food to dance. I think I remember being like this a long time ago. It was before I knew other people might think it was weird, and before I had to be really good at something to enjoy it. I miss that simplicity. I miss that joy. I believe she’s still in there somewhere, deep inside of me. The little girl with eyes full of wonder and a heart full of fantastic dreams. I’m on a mission to find her so that next time I won’t just watch as my kids drink deep of the life they’ve been given. Next time I hear the music I want to get up and dance alongside them.

A couple weekends ago Sameer and I watched our chu A couple weekends ago Sameer and I watched our church's live stream together and I was so moved by our Pastor's @jtoddmullins sermon. He talked about the importance of letting your light shine, that now more than ever, we need to be intentional about staying plugged in, connected to our source, and shining bright. It reminded me of a song I wrote in June and I knew it was time to share it with you. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Let it shine!
A few days ago I was thinking about how confusing A few days ago I was thinking about how confusing and difficult 2020 must be for teenagers and young adults. I know it’s been hard for everyone of all ages, but thinking back to when I was younger, just normal, every day life was already full of confusion and instability as I tried to figure out who I was, where God was leading me, and what was actually important in life. Add to that the unprecedented times we are living in, the heart-wrenching injustices across the world, the complicated issues that we have to somehow be experts on, and the growing spirit of fear that seeks to grab hold of us, I can’t imagine how hard it must be for the younger generation to find their plumb line and hold onto it in the middle of the chaos. As I thought about what I needed during my younger years, it occurred to me that I just needed reassurance from the adults in my life who I trusted and respected. I needed them to remind me of the truth, to give me grace as I made mistakes because I was doing my best, and to love me through it. Though this song was inspired to encourage the ones who are just now starting to try to figure it all out, I think it’s also important for us big kids who need a reminder to keep it simple.
